Summary
The mission of the CABLN is to enable as many California companies as
possible to be effective at employing the talents of people with
disabilities.
To do that, we need to continually increase the number of companies in our
Network and our ability to effectively share ideas
and information with each other.
At the State level, we support Members through
our Website and Email network. To be most effective, however, we
rely on
networks of local companies who are committed to supporting each
other – sharing expertise, knowledge and experience.
Local Chapters
The 4X4 is a model for expansion of the CABLN into local communities
throughout the State of California. In essence, each local CABLN
Chapter should meet the basic minimal criteria of
4 committed “Lead” companies – who collectively commit to
hosting/coordinating a minimum of 4 Educational
Forums/year.
The intent of these Educational forums is to:
-
Provide a forum for Member companies to network.
-
Provide a forum for
dialogue and discussion on topical issues.
-
Recruit
new Members to the local CABLN Network.
Membership Support at the State Level
At a State level, the CABLN provides a basic level of
service to all Members. This includes:
-
Ongoing development of the CABLN Website
-
Monthly Updates (These will be tailored to each
Chapter.)
-
Informational Emails - to be shared with employers
throughout the state.
Membership Support at the Chapter Level
Local Members are recruited and supported locally through (quarterly)
local Educational Forums hosted by Lead companies in those communities.
Two-Tier Membership
Under the 4X4 model, there are two tiers of Membership in the CABLN. “Lead”
Members are the 4 or more companies that commit to providing leadership at
the local level. General Members are companies that join the CABLN to
receive information and to attend meetings.
Lead Members:
Lead Members are a select nucleus of companies that voluntarily choose to
provide the leadership for local-area CABLNs. To be designated as a
recognized “Chapter”, a community must have at least 4 of these companies.
Ideally, the representatives of Lead companies
are individuals who are keenly interested in issues of
employment/disability and who are enthusiastic about the role of the CABLN
as a mechanism for improving employment opportunities for people with
disabilities within their workforces and their communities.
Lead
companies will have the following responsibilities:
-
To meet together once/year – to plan for the
year’s activities.
-
To collaboratively host a minimum of 4
Educational Forums annually (Ideally, hosted by each of the Lead companies
in rotation).
-
To be in communication with the CABLN coordinator re: updates to the
Website (events, contacts, resources, etc.) and new Members.
-
To designate one individual to participate in (quarterly) conference calls
of the State CABLN.
General Members:
General Members are companies that join the CABLN to improve their
employment practices for people with disabilities. They are entitled to:
-
Invitations to CABLN Chapter meetings.
-
Email Network and/or informational mailings.
-
Recognition and contact info on CABLN Website.
